This female was fed with a rat by the male. Unfortunately after 6 months of breeding near lamp post A9-10, 109, they did not succeed and left. My last date spotted them was 15 Apr 2024.

When we arrived at the park, it was crowded. This male was quite annoyed as the photographers were playing calls. We left becasue we just do not feel good looking at how the owl is not being able to sleep.

I was lucky today. Reached about 10am and baby has just woke up. It has left its nest, standing next to its nest. A milestone for the baby since it was born. Watching it stretch and now I can view its feet. Always protected by the mum. Now mum perched a few branches way, same tree, watching it.

While talking to a lady birder, we spotted a bird in front of us. Initially, the lady birder thought it was a Oriental Honey Buzzard.. LOL, I recognised it is the owl immediately. We both started to "shoot" while the other birders kept asking us what were we "shooting".

Eveyone was so excited when I informed them, "food in mouth". Someone asked what is it eating, I told them it is a fish. Then another lady birder exclaimed "dried fish". ha ha ha. I think ladies are more observant.

It is interesting to observed all family members. While mum is feasting, dad is kept a lookout of both mum and child.

Mum brought its food to the nesting place. While all the birders thought show has ended, I noticed they were feeding the baby. Mum watching the baby eating while dad kept a look out.

Baby has grown since 17th Dec 2022. It took me the 4th visit and 2 hours wait to view this baby again. Baby was always sleeping when I visited on the 24th and 31st Dec 2022 and 1st Jan 2023 and because it slept with its head down, it was not possible to even have a peak at it due to its high nest.
Look at its big big eyes. My time was so worth waiting.

My 1st time spotting an owl at JLG.
This handsome young owl was so alert when I spotted it.
In Feb, I spotted 2 of them, meaning there is a couple here. However, did not manage to spot any chicks. So not sure if they managed to have any newborn.

This cuddly owl is so cute. It is strange that Owl usually stay put on its place for quite some time. Spotted it at the junction of Sungei Tampines and Mangrove boardwalk. Hidden in the tree. Huge and beautiful. My 1st encounter with a Buffy Fish Owl.
