Common Flameback

 A commmon resident woodpecker in Singapore. Usually able to spot them around mangrove area.

Spotted this female that looked so different. Why was it in brown? Later I realised the water was brown, perhaps after the wash?

Spotted this male whom came so close to me that it froze. I could see its eyes blinked but the whole body stayed still for at least 5 mins. Imagine, I was using a Sony DSC HX99 with a zoom of only 28 times, I was able to capture its picture so clear. Interesting.

We can differentiate the male with its red crest, while female with black crest. 
Common flameback usually has a patch of red colour at their back.
